Karlijn Burridge, PA-C, MMS, FOMA: Hi everyone, my name is Karli Burridge and I'm a PA and a Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association and I'm the founder and president of Gaining Health and I also serve on the board of the Obesity Medicine Association, the Illinois Obesity Society and PAs in Obesity Medicine. And in this series titled “Digging Deeper: Comprehensive Obesity Care,” Dr. Angela Fitch, who is the co-founder and chief medical officer of knownwell and immediate past president of the Obesity Medicine Association, and I will be reviewing the pillars of comprehensive obesity care that need to be addressed when medically managing patients with a disease of obesity in a primary care setting.

So these pillars include nutrition therapy, physical activity, behavioral modification, and medical intervention. which includes medication management, bariatric procedures, and managing complications of obesity. We'll also be discussing how to provide evidence-based care for patients who have undergone metabolic and bariatric surgery, and we'll demonstrate how this is done in a real-world setting by providing case studies.
