Consultant is a peer-reviewed medical journal focused on the diagnosis, treatment, management, and follow-up care of patients across the clinical spectrum from a primary care perspective. Relevant topics include diseases or clinical conditions seen in general practice or specialty care with an emphasis on how to diagnose and manage collaboratively with peers and specialists along the care continuum.

Since 1961, Consultant has remained a leader in medical education and information for the primary care community. As the US health system becomes less siloed and more integrated, the Consultant journal scope has evolved as well, serving the intersecting clinical information needs of primary care providers and specialists.  

Consultant publishes and accepts the following article types for consideration:

  • Original Research
  • Review
  • Case Reports
  • Case Series
