New Year, New Content Offerings!

Anthony Calabro, MA

The January 2024 electronic table of contents will have a little different feel to it than years past.

Consultant is excited to introduce and share two new content offerings that will be regular features in our monthly issue: Case Report Insights and Photoclinic Challenges. We believe these new content types offer a unique window into how clinicians maneuver through the diagnostic process.

Case Report Insights are in-depth video interviews that take you inside the diagnosis with clinicians who recently published a Consultant case report that presented unusual observations and critical decisions from the clinician(s). This month, Felicia Cooper, MD, and Drew Burgess speak about their study, "Slide Injury Leading to Bacteremia and Sepsis in a Pediatric Patient." Dr Cooper and Ms Burgess provide a comprehensive look at their study where they discuss its implications on multidisciplinary care, what they believe other clinicians can take away from the case, and more.

Our Photoclinic Challenge is an interactive quiz based on an image featured in a previously published Photoclinic article. This month’s challenge involves a 62-year-old man with a history of rheumatoid arthritis and gastroesophageal reflux, who presented to the hospital with persistent left leg pain and swelling for 1 day. View the slideshow for a brief overview of the case, patient history, and a key hint before taking the quiz!

Additionally, our journal currently has an open call for papers. We encourage all interested authors to read our journal’s Author Guidelines, download our Case Report templates, and contact the journal’s editorial office with any queries about your article before submitting your paper through Editorial Manager.

And as always, please feel free to contact our editorial team if you are interested in peer reviewing for Consultant. We would welcome your involvement!

Thank you for reading Consultant and here’s to a wonderful 2024!
